Come along on a guided foraging walk and discover the abundance of plants that are edible. Many common plants and ‘weeds’ are highly nutritious and can be turned into tasty dishes and delicious drinks. Discover our native ‘potato’ and marvel at beautiful, edible flowers. The walk will be followed by a wild food cookery demo, using plants that were harvested on the walk. The recipes featured will vary according to what is seasonally available but may include flower syrups, wild greens pesto, nettle tea, spicy pakora, herbal ‘salt’, berry ice-cream etc. The session will also include practical tips on how to include healthy wild herbs in your diet. And we will of course be sampling all the tasty dishes that we make! The walk will go ahead rain or shine so please dress for the weather.

A practical course in making medicinal remedies from common garden plants, for use in the home. Learn how to make creams, tinctures, teas, syrups and oils. This day will focus on remedies for the winter months. Includes a herb-identifying and gathering walk as well as practical demonstrations of remedy-making.

Natural cosmetics are easy and enjoyable to make when you know how. Items such as lip balm, moisturiser, bath bombs and face scrubs can easily be made at home in your own kitchen. This practical course will show you how. Please bring along a large mixing bowl, a bucket/basin (to use as a foot bath) and a towel: we will be trying out the products). Come along and pamper yourself and learn how to make gorgeous, natural Christmas gifts for loved ones! Additional course materials charge €10 (payable on day to tutor). Cosmetic-making ingredients will be for sale on the day.
