About Sore Throats…..

* A sore throat can be caused by various things.

* Some are safe to treat at home, some require diagnosis and treatment by a medical professional.

Sore throats are usually safe to treat at home when caused by:

  • The common cold
  • A common cough
  • Chronic allergies e.g. hay fever, perennial rhinitis etc.

Sore throats require professional medical help (i.e. go to your GP/doctor) when caused by:

  • Covid-19
  • Tonsillitis
  • ‘Quincy’
  • ‘Strep. throat’
  • Laryngitis
  • Sudden or acute allergies or allergic reactions
